Volunteer for the new children's route at Castle de Haar

Castle de Haar has opened a new experience route especially for children. For this route we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who like to welcome visitors and show them around.

What will you do?

As a volunteer you will welcome visitors right in front of room 17. When a group has to wait a while, you will tell fun anecdotes about the castle children and make sure the next group enters on time. The digital audio guide guides visitors through the story and indicates when it's time to move on. You are there to help if something is unclear or there are questions.

You have a walkie-talkie with you to keep in touch with the castle coordinators, so you can always switch quickly if help is needed somewhere. Whenever possible, you will walk the route through rooms 18 to 22, where you will mainly supervise a number of interactive parts, make sure the rooms are kept tidy, and pay attention to the closing moment of the route.

Practical information

The shifts are as follows:

  • On weekdays: 14.30 - 17.00 hours

  • Regular weekends: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

  • School vacations and holidays: 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The children's route is located on the second floor of the castle. So it's nice if you have good mobility to walk up and down the stairs - at your own pace. You walk the route basically once up and down per shift.

You will receive an expense allowance of € 0,23 per km.

  • You are neat, customer friendly and service oriented.

  • You have a good physical condition.

  • You can empathize well.

  • You can provide a VOG (Certificate of Good Conduct).

  • You are willing to participate in peer feedback.

  • You are available (on a fixed day) at least one day(part) every two weeks.

  • You can handle a digital roster system or are willing to learn to do so.

  • You can visualize the story and answers to questions, tailored to children's perceptions.
