At Kasteel de Haar we are ready to welcome you for the coziest months of the year! Discover the atmospheric castle, go sleuthing together, take a fresh winter walk in the gardens and come warm up with something tasty in our restaurant. The ideal December outing for the whole family.

Both Christmas days open

Combine the family visit or Christmas dinner with a lovely walk through the castle gardens (for example the Highlights route) or a visit to the castle. You are welcome from 09.00 to 17.30 in the gardens and from 10.00 in the castle, until 17.00 (last entrance to the castle is at 16.15). On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, the gardens and the castle are closed. In addition, you can visit us 7 days a week, check all current opening hours on our website. Book your tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment during this busy period.

Quest 'The lost cookie recipe

The children can search for the lost cookie recipe this month. Kitchen help Jean Luc has hidden the Baroness's favorite recipe! Will you help find it back, so the family can still eat them at Christmas?

'The lost recipe' is a treasure hunt in the castle consisting of various riddles for children aged 6 (with some help from an adult) and older. Younger children can look for images of kitchen help Jean Luc. For all sleuths, there is a small reward at the end!

The Luminous Nights

From December 6 to January 4, experience again The Luminous Nights at Kasteel de Haar: a series of magical evening walks for young and old with the castle gardens as impressive backdrop. A brand new story full of exotic fabulous creatures awaits you again. Follow the trail of light and discover the magical stories where fantasy and history meet.

During the +/- 60 minute walk (2,5 km), you can go for a small, warm refreshment.

Warm up at Restaurant Laverie

After your visit to the castle or a winter walk through the gardens, you can warm up at Restaurant Laverie at the Stalplein or Tuynhuis Gabrielle in the gardens. Come enjoy something warm or festive to end the day. Restaurant Laverie's revamped menu features rich winter flavors - such as the pie with homemade ragout of mushrooms, leeks and fresh herbs.

Extra accessibility by public transport

Starting December 14, bus line 111 runs an hourly service during the day until approximately 7 p.m. During the Christmas vacations, bus line 111 runs twice an hour during the day. The bus departs from both station Vleuten and station Breukelen.
