Discover the gardens of Castle de Haar

During the Whitsun weekend we participate in the Day of the Castle, an annual event where castles and country houses in the Netherlands take center stage. Castles and country houses are part of Dutch history and together with their gardens, parks and estates are part of the Dutch landscape. On the Day of the Castle these monuments are in the spotlight and we also like to share the special stories about the castle and the family Van Zuylen van Nijevelt with you.

Romantic walk
This year's theme is 'Love' and we warmly invite you to a romantic walk in the French style gardens, the Maze, Deer Camp and the vast English landscape park. Spread a rug on the Picnic Meadow or get an ice cream from the ice cream bike. Or take a seat on the sunny terrace with something delicious from Tuynhuis Gabrielle. Together with a visit to the castle, a lovely complete outing for Pentecost!

The treasures of the gardens
Curious about the stories behind all the highligts in the castle gardens? Follow the marked route and learn all about the gardens and the noble family Van Zuylen van Nijevelt during a wonderful walk. The kids can go on a scavenger hunt for the escaped animals.

Whit Monday: vintage car parade
Whit Monday, the castle gardens will be the setting for a special parade of vintage Fords. Various unique versions of these iconic cars from the beginning of the last century will drive along the avenues, bringing to life the atmosphere of days gone by. The vehicles can be admired up close between 2:45 and 3:45 p.m.

Visitor informationThe gardens of Kasteel de Haar are open daily from 09.00 am. The castle is open on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May at 11:00 am and on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 May at 10:00 am. During the Day of the Castle, regular admission prices apply for both the gardens and the castle.
