Front office employee
16.5 hours per week, Tuesdays and Sundays or Fridays and Sundays
The Public Affairs team opens the doors of our beautiful castle museum 363 days a year.
With enthusiasm and hospitality, we welcome visitors from the Netherlands and abroad. We are currently looking for a new colleague who will serve as the first point of contact for our visitors with a cheerful attitude and professionalism.
Who are we looking for?
Are you hospitable, practical, and do you enjoy variety? Do you enjoy welcoming visitors from the Netherlands and abroad and ensuring that their visit is pleasant and runs smoothly? Then we’re looking for you!
As a Public Affairs Associate, you’ll be an important point of contact for our visitors. You’ll work in the entrance building (front office) and, together with colleagues, volunteers, and on-call staff, help ensure that Kasteel de Haar is a welcoming and safe place to visit.
What will you be doing?
In this varied role, you’ll work in the entrance building. You’ll welcome visitors, answer their questions, and—together with your colleagues—ensure a warm and smooth experience throughout the day.
• Together with the Front Office Coordinator, you’ll open up the entrance building;
• You’ll be the first point of contact for visitors and staff at the information desk, on the phone, and via email;
• You will provide visitors with information about tickets, routes, and their visit to the castle and gardens;
• You will handle the sale and administrative processing of tickets and reservations;
• You will welcome suppliers, business guests, and wedding parties who have an appointment or are visiting the estate.
What do we expect from you?
You enjoy working with people, are service-oriented, and combine a friendly welcome with clarity when needed. You stay calm when things get busy and know when to handle a situation on your own and when to call on a colleague.
In addition:
• Do you have a vocational education (MBO) level of work and thinking?
• Do you preferably have work experience in a service-oriented role, such as in the recreation industry, retail, a museum, or the hospitality industry?
• Do you speak and write Dutch and English well enough to assist visitors?
• Are you comfortable using digital systems or a quick learner;
• Do you have a practical attitude and enjoy working with colleagues and volunteers?
• Are you available on Tuesdays and Sundays or on Fridays and Sundays?
• Are you willing to work on holidays and to cover for colleagues;
• Are you willing to complete first-aid training if you do not yet have a first-aid certificate?
• Do you preferably live in the Haarzuilens area?
What do we offer you?
You’ll be working in a place full of character, meaning, and charm. Together with about 70 colleagues and more than 270 volunteers and on-call staff, you’ll help create the Kasteel de Haar experience. Communication lines are short, commitment is high, and we all work together toward the same goal: managing, preserving, and opening this special place to our visitors.
You’ll be part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team where collaboration comes naturally and everyone’s contribution counts. The salary ranges from €2,778 to €3,384 gross per month, based on a 40-hour workweek.
In addition, you get from us:
• a good retirement plan;
• a travel allowance of €0.25 per kilometer, regardless of your mode of transportation;
• 25 vacation days per year based on a 40-hour workweek;
• 8.33% vacation pay;
• work clothes;
• a personal development budget;
• Group WIA insurance;
• a free parking spot at Kasteel de Haar;
• a workplace in a historic monument on a beautiful estate.
