Castle de Haar in all its glory
Experience the grandeur of the September tradition
September 1–27
In September, the unique history of De Haar Castle comes to life! Visit the castle and gardens and experience the grandeur of the September Tradition: the annual stay of the baron and baroness at the castle, together with their guests from the international high society. Let yourself be swept away by the stories, atmosphere, and style of that era. SDine in the Dining Hall, play a game of chess in the Knights’ Hall, Admire the servants’ uniforms, the unique silver flatware, and the baronesses’ gowns.
The Baron’s Dream
It was Etienne, Baron van Zuylen van Nijevelt, who transformed De Haar into an impressive family estate and one of the most glamorous country retreats in Europe. In September, learn more about this unconventional baron and his grand dream during the castle tour “Baron Etienne’s Dream” and the September Lectures “The Baron’s World.”
You can also experience life at De Haar in September with outdoor games such as croquet and jeu de boules in the gardens, vintage cars on the estate, and concerts in the Chapel. The youngest visitors can have fun in the maze or on the garden scavenger hunt. Inside the castle, they can go on an adventure with Noet Noet, the talking castle cat, or learn about the life of the nobility during a scavenger hunt.
