Vespers in the Chapel

Sunday, September 6, 2026

End your Sunday with a moment of peace and reflection in the historic Chapel at De Haar Castle.

This Vespers service combines psalms, singing, Scripture readings, and prayer. The service is held in the Catholic tradition and is organized by the Roman Catholic parish of Light of Christ. Anyone seeking silence, reflection, and fellowship is warmly welcome.

Faith and Tradition in September

The Chapel was commissioned at the end of the nineteenth century by Baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt restored and converted into a chapel For the family and their guests. During the Van Zuylen family’s annual September stay, the baron and baroness attended Mass here on Sundays. The church service was thus part of the regular rhythm of the month of September at De Haar. As part of the September Tradition, we are reviving this special tradition together with the Light of Christ parish.

Program

The Vespers service includes an opening prayer, hymns, psalms, a Scripture reading, intercessions, and communal prayer. The Michaël Choir, conducted by Vincent Doek, will provide the music, and Pastor Peter Ambting will lead the service.
